Frequently Asked Questions

We offer more than just soaps. Celtic Naturals gives its customers a resource for information. Following are some of the most commonly asked questions and you can follow the links at the bottom of this page for more FAQ. If you have a question that’s not answered, email angela@celticnaturals.com.

header_logoWhat does “all natural” mean?
At Celtic Naturals, “all-natural” means the ingredients going into our soaps have had minimal to no processing, which maintains their original integrity. Also, no synthetics have been added.

header_logoWhere is the lather?
Many people comment that there’s less lather in a natural bar of soap than normally found in a commercial products. Most commercial soaps use chemicals and synthetics that dry out skin and create an artificial lather. However, the ingredients in natural soaps moisturize skin and create a lighter, more subtle lather.

header_logoWhat do you mean by soap vs. detergent?
Many commercial body washes are not soap, but rather detergents. Detergents are derived from petroleum products, which dry and damage the skin. Unfortunately, manufacturers add a variety of chemicals for color, fragrance and added moisturizing; whereas natural soaps are made of vegetable oils or animal fats.

header_logoWhy doesn’t Celtic Naturals offer soaps with vanilla?
Vanilla is a wonderful scent—it often evokes memories of safety, home and comfort. Unfortunately, it is predominantly grown in troubled parts of the world and because of its popularity, vanilla farming often uses environmentally harmful practices. Although some ranchers have begun using environmentally-friendly techniques, violence and stolen crops are still rampant. Therefore, Celtic Naturals made the difficult decision to ignore the financial benefits and instead follow our values and not offer vanilla scented items until it’s farmed consistently using environmentally and socially responsible means.

header_logoAren’t fragrances and essential oils the same thing?
Essential oils and fragrance are not the same thing. Essential oils maintain the essence of the original plant – the oil may be extracted via steaming, pressing or alcohol extraction. The beauty of the essential oil is that it is a complex, balanced blend of oils, as nature intended it. However, fragrances and synthetics replicate the primary active ingredients of essential oils in order to bring the consumer cheaper options.

Celtic Naturals uses no synthetic perfumes in its soaps – only the natural essential oils. Therefore, the scent is lighter than those you may be accustomed to in other soaps.
